That is a part of WHO's charm. Old fuckers cunting everyone off in the bastard. It'll be refreshing with all this WOKE nonsense going on.

I'm a writer and have often thought of dipping into the WHO archives and writing a book called 'The World According to WHO". It would be fucking hilarious, and at times very sad.

Life stories have been told on this site. My user name, Alfs, iis because I'd just had a son and called him Alfie. He's 25 now!

I've had my first volunteer to do the Podcast. Come on, let's give these vloggers and podpers and damned good kick in.

We're West Ham.

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
Alfs & Lily - I fully agree. We can be fighting like two cats in a pillow-case one second then agreeing (or not) on Moysies team selection the next. Even those that could hold a grudge for England mostly follow this pattern.

That's probably the one aspect I, too, would never want to change,

My real concern is, with all this woke bollocks, that someone will see WHO as their route to their 15 minutes of fame ("See that WHO? I got that site banned for too much swearing at me. That was me, dat was, I de man!); we've even had regulars threaten that...

I do like the idea of a "warning" page before anybody signs up though, but it needs double (or even triple) positive agreement ("Click OK to proceed") in order to move to the next step.

Maybe a way to identify new posters so a similar notice is on every page they view for a month or so?

I fully support this revolution to overthrow the decaying old regime and seize the means of production.

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
My mission IS NOT TO CHANGE THE CULTURE OF WHO it is to make sure it survives and thrives
I like it the way it is but to make sure it doesn’t die and then we all turn round and say I wish I could have done something
So if we get reassurances from North Bank it can survive in its current state without advertising etc etc then that’s all good with me.

Think we're all in agreement cf.

If subscriptions to cover the costs is the easiest way forward, much less work, so, count me in!

When it comes to funding, why don’t you try something like a Patron for WHO? Make the lowest tier £1 a month or something?

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
Hells bells!
No sign of North Bank?
I had no idea things were not well and we relied on North!

Have to say I like it as it is, a couple of posters that fuck me off, but I have no trouble to ignore them! I’m not too bothered about new posters, I think there have been a few? Not sure though, Hate to say, but most posters are a bit of a blur for me and I just remember a few dozen. I think if people are willing to do small changes that might provide more content or encourage new people they should be able to do that. But yes someone needs to manage that.

If costs are the problem. I’d put money in. What about the WHO fund, could we use that, give the word and I’ll put a few quid in it.

I am willing to help, even with some time. I have no Web skills, but I could even learn about that if needed. I am always thinking I should dip into a bit web stuff.

Strange, but without WHO, I would have practically no one to talk about West Ham with!

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
its not the heat in the kitchen that gives me reason to leave ,its the smell of what some one is cooking that is the issue.

the whole site needs to be turned inside out

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
The first and major stumbling block seems to be Site Admin.

It's absurd that WHO can be held to ransom by one uncooperative tosser playing silly buggers.

It's also absurd that one person (North Bank) has to pay for the site's upkeep - and that over the odds.

There's definitely more than enough good will from the rank and file to keep WHO going. A lick of paint and the addition of a thoroughly modern trick or two will boost the site's attraction.

Mike Oxsaw 7:55 Fri Mar 5
Re: Let's save WHO !!!
It's not the site that needs changing: ALL posters need to start handing out online the sort of respect for others they demand for themselves and their loved ones in the real world.

2021 and some still think being a "hard" keyboard warrior/troll is a positive attribute.

charleyfarley 7:56 Fri Mar 5
Re: Let's save WHO !!!
Spot on Coffee this is the stumbling block and there must be someone with knowledge in our ranks who knows how to get round this problem

blueeyed.handsomeman 7:59 Fri Mar 5
Re: Let's save WHO !!!
the letter of the apps is not as important asthespirit of the responsibility for administering to the site

Mike Oxsaw 8:05 Fri Mar 5
Re: Let's save WHO !!!
It may be possible to "park" a claim on the domain name for when it expires - but that is not the site.

For security purposes I would suspect that only Site Admin has the login details for the account (but I'm surprised that no one else has a copy for times just like this).

This will mean that he is the only one to whom the site hosting company will answer - I don't think even power of attorney over the site to gain access is possible, but that depends on the law of the land where the host is physically located.

If we/somebody knows the host, then it may be possible to ask them to contact Site Admin, but I wouldn't hold out much hope on that front.

Who actually pays the host? They may have luck contacting the site host directly, although, in the case of my site host, operational and financial (security) issues are completely separate.

Re: Let's save WHO !!!
The problem with moving over to another host/format is that we will be obliged to post under their woke, fluffy guidelines for comments. So no thanks.

Coffee 8:15 Fri Mar 5
Re: Let's save WHO !!!
You don't have to move to another hosting provider, you just have to change the ownership/access.

Wasn't it Alf Garnet something or the other before WHO?

Been posting for nearly 20 years, lurking as an Anon for few before that.

More than happy to bung a few Quid in the Gavvy fund if it helps, im sure he would have been one of the first to help save WHO.

Well done Charlie for raising this, good luck to the tech types on WHO that may be able to unravel what sounds like abit of a mess.
